Somehow I got sucked into a really great deal. When my friend Lisa came to visit after Elliot’s birth we did the usual yarn crawl. At this avalanche-prone yarn store, The Yarn Barn, she surfaced with something like six balls of the Jo Sharp Rare Comfort. Her deal? She buys the yarn and gives half to me. Her half becomes whatever lacy thing I want, my half becomes an Ice Queen for her. Who wouldn’t take that deal??

Em modeling my scarf from Lisa. Clearly, no detail can be seen, but it is quite fetching, regardless.

An attempt at some pattern detail.
As far as I know, it’s a simple Feather and Fan stitch. “Simple” here translates to “gorgeous.” I HAD to put Ice Queen at the top of my queue and knit it up fast. The mohair-related guilt would just be too much, otherwise.
PS My laptop is now in working condition AND I have internet access. Real pictures to come in the near future!
That sounds like a lot of fun! I’ll have to try that with one of my fiber friends. It’s coming along beautifully. 🙂
Lovely to “hear”your blogging! That cowl is scrumptious!
I was convinced my cowl was finished, until I realized Em was wearing the scarf I made… I kept looking for the stripes, the beads… then I used my high-falutin’ readin’ skills and figured it out. Is it weird I didn’t recognize it right away? I spent a good bit of time with it in my lap.
And for anyone wondering, yes, it is just feather and fan with a two-stitch garter edge on either side, began and ended with two ridges of garter. Simplicity in pattern for a complex yarn. Lots of texture and color interest; I highly recommend it to anyone who does not have a hatred for mohair.
Thank you for blogging my projects. Apparently, I’ve lost the talent, myself, but it really lets me know how much you love them when I see you showing me off. I am so pleased you love it; that was the point.
After all this blue I’ve been knitting, I feel like I need to knit myself something pink. (So why, then, did I choose more blue yarn for my labor project? Sometimes I just can’t explain myself.)
